New sustainability report published

In its latest sustainability report, REHAU reviews the activities of its subgroups REHAU Automotive and REHAU Industries for the year 2022. For the eighth time, the company provides a detailed overview of its values, goals and sustainability management. "This report shows that sustainability is firmly rooted in our corporate DNA and that we have already achieved a great deal. However, this is just the beginning. We will continue to work hard to drive positive change in our industry and our society and are consistently pursuing our ambitious path," emphasizes Dr. Uwe H. Böhlke, CEO of REHAU Industries SE & Co. KG.

Positive results and ambitious goals

This sustainability report confirms that the company is on the right track. The measures taken in both subgroups have made a significant contribution to the continuous reduction of Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. Since 2020, these have been reduced by almost 64 percent. By 2025 at the latest, the two subgroups have set themselves the goal of achieving zero Scope 2 emissions (i.e., zero tons of CO2) regardless of the company's growth. 

"We are very proud of the fact that almost 100 percent of the electricity consumed at REHAU Automotive now comes from renewable energy sources," explains Dr. Markus Distelhoff, CEO of REHAU Automotive SE & Co. KG. "This has enabled us to reduce Scope 2 emissions by 77 percent compared to the base year 2018." 

REHAU Industries is also on a very good path: 73 percent of the electricity consumed by its plants is covered by renewable energy sources and emissions have been reduced by 68 percent compared to the base year 2018.

The target that REHAU Industries had set itself for 2025 was also exceeded with regard to the use of recyclate in all products. In the reporting year, the previous target of 15 percent recycled content in the EMEA region was therefore increased to 20 percent worldwide by 2025. In addition, REHAU Industries has set itself the goal of producing all products in a CO2-neutral manner by 2035.

Transparent and forward-looking

In terms of content, the sustainability report follows the GRI standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and the new European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). In this way, REHAU aims to inform stakeholders transparently about key areas of action, measures, targets and key figures and at the same time prepare for the changeover to the future requirements of the CSRD Directive. In addition, REHAU remains committed to the ten principles of the UN Global Compact. The Sustainability Strategy 2030 with the respective fields of action of the two subgroups is also derived from the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.
